Google Chrome + Scott McCloud

The world wide web is a-buzz about internet superpower Google's new open-source web browser Google Chrome released just yesterday. If you haven't given it a spin yet, I suppose it would be a good idea to read this article, 9 Things to Love and Hate About the Google Chrome, first.

While I haven't had the time to try it out as well, I extremely enjoyed the comic book explaining its inner workings.

(via Scott McCloud's website)

Produced by the Google Chrome Team and adapted by well-known cartoonist/comic theorist Scott McCloud, the comic is 38 pages long is well worth a read, whether you're a Google OR comic fan or not.

As my husband is a comic book artist/writer, I have come to acquaint myself with graphic novels in the marketplace so I'm pretty familiar with Mr. McCloud's work, particularly his book Understanding Comics - a 215-page comic book about comics that explains the inner workings of the medium and examines many aspects of visual communication along the way. Before diving into a career in the comic books arena, it has been highly recommended by the authorities that you give this one a read first and foremost.

Heroes "What Hero Are You?" Tee vs. Poptastic's "What's Your Super Power?" Tee

Now here's something you don't see everyday!

Last year my husband, a huge sci-fi and comic book fan (who's actually a comic book writer/artist himself) came up with the idea of a t-shirt with icons/symbols to represent common "super powers" exhibited by various heroes we've all seen in cartoons, comic books, movies, and tv shows.

So we launched our original "What's Your Super Power?" t-shirt in February 2007:

(See this design in more t-shirt styles and colors HERE).

Earlier today, in anticipation of Heroes season 3, I was looking at official Heroes t-shirts and chanced upon this:

Now does that look almost exactly like our design or what? The symbols have been re-imagined but the illustration style and typeface that was used are very similar to ours. I found these shirts here, here, and here. UPDATE: Edited to erase links.

Oh well...*shrugs*

I'll just leave it up to you now, dear customer. If you want an official but commercial Heroes tee, then go ahead and click the links above*. If you want to support indie designers like ourselves, you may purchase the original but non-Heroes-centric "What's Your Super Power?" t-shirt from our shop ... and thus have our undying gratitude. :)

*But if you really must have an official Heroes tee, I'd rather you check out the following instead (these are pretty cool):

Why so serious? The Dark Knight / Joker Tees

The Dark Knight is easily the most awesome Batman movie there is! I don't know about you but I was still gasping for breath even after we exited the theater - that's how exhilarating the ride is. Add to this the fact that the late Heath Ledger's portrayal of the Joker is seriously one of the toughest acts to follow in cinema history and is one that you should NOT miss.

So in honor of Mr. Ledger (whom I've admired since 1999 in 10 Things I Hate About You), I took it upon myself to scour the net for excellent officially licensed The Dark Knight Joker t-shirts. Here are a few from Stylin Online. The shirts go for $16.98 apiece but why be content with one when you can get two for only $30.00. What a great deal huh?

Click on the images to view the product pages. (If the t-shirts pictured below are not in stock, please see Part 2: More Dark Knight / Joker tees)
